Body GalvanisationThe most reliable method of protecting sheet steel against corrosion is galvanising. In galvanisation, the zinc does not form a loose layer on the sheet, but reacts to create a stable compound which is also immune to surface damage. Galvanisation, which is applied in very thin layers of less than 20 micrometres (millionths of a millimetre), can be used primarily to treat finer surfaces. It is most suitable for the visible surfaces of the vehicle body. A galvanised or fully galvanised body limits potential financial risk, as it maintains the safety, value and serviceability of the vehicle over a long period of time. Galvanisation ensures optimum protection against corrosion, and safeguards the vehicle's structural stability throughout its life cycle. The prolonged service life of the vehicle helps to conserve resources in a sustainable way. |
