The very next year, 1973 saw a new generation of Volkswagen vehicles: with front-wheel drive, and up to 110 BHP water-cooled four-cylinder engines: The Passat. In 1974, the first Golf was built at the Wolfsburg plant. The compact saloon quickly became a hit, and advanced to become the legitimate heir to the legendary Beetle.

In 1976, the first Golf GTI rolled off the production line. The car, with its 110 BHP engine, took driving experience to a whole new level, and thus became the founder of the GTI legend.

1977-2002


In 1983, Volkswagen once more proved to be a leader in the car manufacturing industry, with its “famous” Hall 54: The first automated assembly line to deploy robots in car manufacturing. Hall 54’s first customer was the second-generation Golf.

In August 2002 was the dawn of a new era in the rich Volkswagen Legacy when the introduction of Touareg was announced, a multi-talented and versatile vehicle with super on and off road ability, the Touareg is a vehicle here in the Middle East which keeps on proving itself time after time.
